In early 2026, following a successful community buyout, the building passed into community ownership and a new chapter began.

Our vision is to carefully restore and preserve this special historic building while creating a welcoming space for community life, culture, learning, reflection and celebration for generations to come.

There are lots of ways to get involved, whether you can spare a few hours regularly or lend a hand occasionally. From helping with events and activities to looking after the building and grounds, volunteers will play an important part in the future of St Ernan’s.

Creating a Welcoming Space

Our aim is to preserve the unique character and heritage of St Ernan’s while creating a safe, welcoming and flexible space for community gatherings, cultural activities, special occasions and quiet reflection.

The building is currently available for some uses, including weddings and funerals, with the range of facilities and activities set to grow as our restoration project progresses.
